HOW TO PROTECT YOUR IDENTITY USING ONLINE CASTING SERVICES.

ACTOR SUBMISSION TIP!
Never put a current agents information that you are trying to leave or even a managers name on your resume when submitting to find a new agent. Putting a current agents name on the resume will only cause the agent you are trying to get a meeting with not to call you in at all, or question you to the 10th degree in the meeting about why you are trying to leave the current agent you have. The conversation usually turns negative with comments like, “Call us when your contract is up with your agent and we will meet again.” When the contract term is up, the agent usually will not return your call. We’ve have detailed reports of agents trying to talk the actor into staying with agent the actor is actually trying to leave!
If you put a managers name on the resume you are submitting this can also be a problem. Agents usually don’t want to work with managers they don’t have an existing relationship with, and are more open to working with managers they are at least familiar with. Agents and managers jobs descriptions and duties are different, and they usually don’t work well together unless they have an established relationship together and understand each others’ way of doing business. Some agents (especially the top ones) will not work with an actor at all if they have a manager, it creates too much confusion when it comes to critical information being passed along from one person to the next. If you do have a manager and have a meeting with an agent, wait until the new agent signs you, and your information is posted on LA Casting and/or Actors Access, then tell the agent you have a manager. This may seem risky but it seems to work every time according to our clients. We’ve already received feedback on this very subject from actors and they now know the reason that their meetings fell apart or were dropped altogether by an agent.

STAY AWAY FROM ONE SOURCE TALENT AGENCY
We advise actors to stay away from One Source Talent Agency located at 8383 Wilshire Blvd. They promote themselves as an “LA Casting type” of service that charges you a $39.95 per month service fee and an initial $495.00 sign up fee. Of course it is very old news that an actor should only pay an agents fee of 10%, 15%, or 20% (depending on the agreement with the agent) after the actor has been booked for work by the agent. We’ve received several negative reports about this agency. Please be advised. Feel free to forward this notice to your friends.
